Qld: Thousands to miss out on tertiary places
Almost 12,000 Queensland students will miss out on university and TAFE places this year.
The Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre says it's received a record 54,900 applicationsbut will offer 43,000 positions.
QTAC managing director AVRIL MCCLELLAND says QTAC has received the highest numberof tertiary applications in five years.
About half the applicants have just finished Year 12 and the remainder are mature-agestudents, including an 81-year-old.
