NSW: Four charged over double murder

SYDNEY, Dec 24 AAP - A couple have been charged over the murder of a pair of lovers,whose bodies were found in the boot of a car near the NSW-Queensland border.

The twin murder charges against the 37-year-old man and the 30-year-old woman fromGoondiwindi late this evening follow the charging of two men in two states earlier today.

The couple will face Bathurst Court in a special late sitting tonight.

Unemployed Guyon Ronald Clark, 31, from Port Macquarie in NSW faced Bathurst Courtearlier today over the shooting deaths of his estranged wife Sharon May Clark and herlover James Gareth Hunt.

It is believed he was accompanied by an 8-year-old when he gave himself up to police.

A fourth man, aged 20 from Goondiwindi in south-west Queensland, faced the local MagistratesCourt also charged with two counts of murder.

He was remanded in custody to reappear on January 21 next year.

The bodies of the 29-year-old mother and her 20-year-old lover were found in the bootof a car in bushland about 35 km east of Goondiwindi at 8am (AEST) yesterday, sparkinga massive manhunt.

Warwick police Inspector Paul Lostroh told reporters police had seized a number ofitems from the 20-year-old man's house, including a rifle which would be examined to determinewhether it was the murder weapon.

The three in Bathurst have been remanded in custody to reappear on Friday when Queenslandpolice were expected to request their extradition.

The murdered woman's son and daughter aged five and six were being cared for by her parents.

The four children of the couple arrested in Bathurst were in the care of the NSW Departmentof Community Services.

Police and the Goondiwindi Apex Club have set up an appeal for the children through Westpac Bank.
