NSW:Randwick safety paramount, minister says

NSW Racing Minister GEORGE SOURIS says a dangerous stand at Randwick racecourse won't
be reopened until public safety can be guaranteed.

He says inspection of the stand could take up to a week and the Spring carnival could
be affected.

The QEII stand was deemed unsafe by engineers yesterday and the Randwick race meeting
on Saturday has been transferred to Warwick Farm.

Mr SOURIS says a decision on other Randwick race meetings will depend on what the engineers
find when the roof is fully inspected.
